Doesn’t that sound surreal, if not, impossible to achieve bestselling status right after you publish your first book?
Not everyone is fortunate enough to achieve that, though. But it’s not impossible to attain the goal if you’re willing to undergo the painful process of shaping, and molding your draft until it’s furnished and ready for publishing.
And that’s what we’re here for as we learn about what MasterClass is all about and what it can do to us to improve and create a bestseller as well… like them.
Before we begin, I want to let you know that the links in the post are affiliate links. It helps me run the website and continue my quest to the wonders of writing to share with you, writer! I promise it doesn’t affect the price.
Here’s another thing. Since this site is intended for writers, this review will focus more on the writing benefits than other categories. Alright?
What Is MasterClass?
The MasterClass is an American online education platform founded in 2014 by David Rogier (CEO) and Aaron Rasmussen. Their goal was to level-up online learning by including “interactive assignments” between students.
With a staggering $130 million in total funding, MasterClass produces high-definition videos with world-renowned experts teaching in a variety of fields from acting to writing, from politics to leadership.
Each class has around 10 to 20 video lessons with an average of 10 minutes for each lesson. So, it takes around 2 to 5 hours to finish. Today, they have around 85+ classes across 9 categories accessible for PC, TV App, and mobile devices.
MasterClass offers classes in the following categories:
- Food
- Arts & Entertainment
- Home & Lifestyle
- Writing
- Sports & Gaming
- Design & Style
- Business
- Music
- Science & Tech
Because it allows ordinary people to learn from the “world’s greatest minds” in one platform, MasterClass remains one of the top choices when it comes to online learning. Writers included.
The ambitious goal consequently received 2 Webby Awards in 2020 and another set of awards for Apps, Mobile, Voice, and Web respectively.
Can I Get MasterClass For Free?
Unfortunately, MasterClass isn’t free and is not offering a free 7-day or 30-day trial either. But you can check out their free live class on their YouTube channel.
What they can offer is a different set of subscription options which will be refundable for 30 days after the purchase.
To do that, you have to send them an email indicating that you’re not satisfied and want a full refund within 30 days. Otherwise, you’ll never get your money back.
If It’s Not For Free, How Much Does MasterClass Cost Me?
MasterClass offers a reasonable price. Well, what do you expect from learning the bestselling authors?
They ask for around $180 for unlimited access to all classes, including upcoming classes, on different devices.
Plus, you can enjoy unlimited class workbooks to download to make sure you won’t miss anything from your world-renowned and seemingly impossible-to-reach instructor.
Additionally, taxes will be applied to the membership price. There’s no fixed note on this as it entirely depends on the country where you live. However, regardless of how much it will be, it will all be indicated on the emailed invoice.

Is MasterClass Worth The Money?
I guess nobody could resist the temptation to give MasterClass a try, given that the instructors aren’t just experts but they’re world-class talents. And that’s what makes this online learning platform different from others.
Imagine how expensive it would be just to attend, let’s say, a seminar or a workshop with them.
However, for only $180 per year, you get access to these materials and download workbooks to continue learning and studying the important points presented in the video lessons.
Watch this video and have a glimpse of what this platform can do for your writing potential. It’s Dan Brown’s MasterClass trailer.
On the other hand, some people aren’t satisfied with MasterClass as instructors only provide a sort of inspiration to harness their creativity and go deeper into their fields. But they don’t expect to digest a heavy load of technical lessons on this platform. (See the cons)
This is one of a few negative comments about this platform.
Conclusion – My MasterClass Review Verdict
When I knew these people, James Patterson, Dan Brown, and Malcolm Gladwell, will teach online for the very first time, my heart jumped.
I only know them through their books displayed all the time on the center shelf in a local bookstore. Their names sit side by side for I don’t know how long.
For me, they seem unreachable and will perhaps die with their geniuses unshared. Yet, that changed when I knew about MasterClass. What amazed me the most is the affordability of the classes.
You can’t imagine how happy I was when I learned this online platform existed until I saw their ads on social media. Without doubts in mind, I clicked on the page and got immersed in the classes.
MasterClass Review for Writers – Very Final Verdict!
With all these being said, there’s no doubt that MasterClass will remain the top online platform to learn and be inspired by the legends we thought we couldn’t reach this level.
Listening to them awakens the suppressed creative energy I feel when I write. They never failed to do that. As an INFJ writer, it’s necessary to let out the bestsellers to the world rather than keeping them hidden and lost for eternity.
At this point, do you still doubt whether this platform works in sharpening your writing skills or not?
If you want to see if they deliver what they promise, I suggest you give MasterClass a try. Click this link to sign-up and have fun learning!
