As promised, I’m going to give you the second batch of the 200 best Kdrama series of all time, which I recommend you to watch (binge watch, I mean) either for your personal enjoyment or for novel inspirations.

If it’s for the latter, I have 61 other methods you can maximize to gather as many novel inspirations as you can. I swear, I tried all of them whenever I plan writing my stories.

1. Secret Garden (2010)

The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won, an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im, a poor and humble stunt woman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses.

2. Wish Upon A Star (2010)

Also known as “Star Falling From The Sky,” the Korean drama series talk about Jin Pal-gang has worked at an insurance firm for five years, but she spends more than she makes and has racked up credit card debt.

Loud-mouthed and rash, she has a pretty immature personality despite her 25 years of age and her life’s greatest goal is to find a handsome, perfect man and live in married bliss. But she suddenly becomes the guardian for her five younger adopted siblings when her parents pass away.

3. The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry (2010)

Broadcast journalist Shin Young is 34, and wants to find love, but it’s hard to stay positive when she’s faced with high workplace pressure and a string of failed relationships.

4. Bad Guy (2010)

Bong Joon-Soo is Hwang Tae-Hee’s husband. He’s popular with woman but has no special talents or interests. He starts work at a company to get revenge on his ex-girlfriend, who dumped him.

At his new workplace he meets Hwang Tae-Hee who works as a team leader. Hwang Tae-Hee has feelings for him, dreaming of becoming a cinderella, and soon they marry.

Unexpectedly, Bong Joon-Soo must get through difficulties. He struggles to become a real man and finally takes responsibility for his family.

Baek Yeo-Jin is a cute woman, but when she needs to she become bad. She works with Hwang Tae-Hee at the same company and uses her attractive looks when needed, which raises the ire of Hwang Tae-Hee.

6. White Christmas (2011)

Deep in the mountains of Gangwon, the private, elite Soo-sin High School is attended by the top 1% of students in the country.

Their stellar marks are the result of constant pressure and a strict punishment system, to the point where students avoid any activities outside of studying.

It is in this atmosphere that seven students and a teacher remain at school for the winter break, joined by Kim Yo-han, a psychiatrist who was forced to take shelter with them after he was injured in a car accident nearby. Stranded from heavy snow, they spend eight days together ― from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day.

Park Mu-yeol is an honor student who chooses to remain in school during the winter break after receiving an abusive letter.

Jo Young-jae is a detested bully who attacks other people to hide his inferiority complex. Yoon Soo is a disturbed, but rich student fronting a rock band.

Yoon Eun-sung was once a popular girl in school before having a sudden change of personality.

At a time when everyone else is celebrating the holidays, the students realize that the anonymous letters they each received were not the result of a harmless prank; there is a murderer in their midst.

7. Vampire Prosecutor 1 (2011)

Prosecutor Min Tae Yeon is bitten by somebody and becomes a Vampire. Tae Yeon rejects the life of a vampire and he survives by drinking the blood of dead people and still lives as a righteous prosecutor.

Tae Yeon also uses his new founded abilities as a Vampire to prosecute powerful persons normally thought above the law. A mysterious case then occurs and the evidence points to a Vampire as the perpetrator.

8. A Thousand Days’ Promise (2011)

Lee Seo-yeon, a free-spirited woman, is having a secret affair with Park Ji-hyung, an architect who has a fiancée. Upon hearing that Ji-hyung’s parents set the date for his wedding, Seo-yeon splits up with him.

But she has no time to lament over her painful breakup, as she gets diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer’s, a very unlikely disease for a 30-year-old woman.

Ji-hyung happens to learn the shocking fact, and he breaks off his engagement only two days before the wedding to return to his ex-girlfriend.

Despite vehement opposition from his parents and even from Seo-yeon herself, he never gives up on her and marries her without delay. The doting husband is devoted to taking care of his ailing wife, who is losing her ability to remember.

9. Scent Of A Woman (2011)

As a single, unmarried woman in her mid-thirties, Lee Yeon-jae is meek and timid, considered a spinster by society.

After spending ten years working for the same travel company owned by Kang Chul-man, she is falsely accused of stealing from a client.

In addition to enduring the accusations of her superiors, she is diagnosed with gallbladder cancer with approximately six months left to live. Mustering up her courage, Yeon-jae resigns and embraces her remaining six months of life.

10. Heartstrings (2011)

Lee Shin is a university student majoring in modern music. He is the vocalist of band “The Stupid” and also plays the guitar. He is known for his good looks and his strong passion for music.

But is in reality a cold person who is uninterested in non-music related things and has no dreams nor plans for the future. Shin initially likes a dance professor at his university, but this all changes when he meets Lee Kyu Won.

Lee Kyu Won is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum.

Kyu Won’s grandfather, Lee Dong Gun, is one of the top 3 traditional musicians of his age, and his biggest wish is to have his grand-daughter trained to become a traditional music prodigy in 10 years’ time.

Trying to live up to her grandfather’s expectations, Kyu Won immerses herself in training and becomes a university student who knows nothing besides traditional music.

11. Poseidon (2011)

The drama is based on the special duties of the Korean Coast Guard officers (rescues, terrorism threats, and other special missions) and also their obstacle in life and love. The drama takes its name from the Poseidon Team, a special forces unit of the Marines.

12. Ojakyo Brothers (2011)

The story of a family with four sons who live together with their relatives on a farm near Seoul.

20. High Kick! The Revenge of the Short Legged (2011)

The story is narrated by Lee Jeok. It is 2041 and he has released a best selling novel called “High Kick: Revenge of the Short-legged”.

The book describes his experience with the Ahn’s and Ji-won’s households, the primary plot being the Ahn family’s financial hardship.

The drama begins when Nae-sang’s business partner, who has embezzled funds from the company, flees the country and leaves behind a mountain of debts and a horde of angry creditors.

Faced with the prospect of going to debtors’ prison, Nae-sang frantically collects his family (his wife in the middle of a massage session, his son during an ice hockey match and his daughter who had just arrived from LA) and escapes to the countryside.

21. Girl K (2011)

Also known as “Little Girl K,” this Korean drama series talk about the high school student, Yeon-jin, saw her mother killed before her.

Her mother was involved with a severy group that created assassins. Yeon-jin then joins so she can plot her revenge against the organization. (Source: IMDb)

22. Flower Boy Ramyun Shop (2011)

Also known as “Cool Boys, Hot Ramen,” the story revolves around Yang Eun-bi is a university student preparing for her civil service exam with the dream of being a high school teacher.

She accidentally encounters Cha Chi-soo, the arrogant son of the biggest food conglomerate in Korea. Cha Chi-soo fascinates women with his good looks and charm.

Eun-bi is attracted to him before she finds out that he is only a high school student and thus several years younger than her.

24. City Hunter (2011)

The series follows the exploits of Ryo Saeba, a “sweeper” who is always found chasing beautiful girls and a private detective who works to rid Tokyo of crime, along with his associate or partner, Hideyuki Makimura.

Their “City Hunter” business is an underground jack-of-all-trades operation, contacted by writing the letters “XYZ” on a blackboard at Shinjuku Station.

One day, Hideyuki is murdered, and Ryo must take care of Hideyuki’s sister, Kaori, a tomboy who becomes his new partner in the process.

The story also follows the behind-the-scenes romance between Ryo and Kaori and the way they cooperate throughout each mission.

29. 49 Days (2011)

31. Vampire Prosecutor 2 (2011)

In the second season of “Vampire Prosecutor,” Min Tae Yeon is back as the prosecutor who heads up a new division that investigates unsolved murder cases.

No one, except for Detective Hwang Soon Bum, who knows that Tae Yeon was bitten seven years ago and acquired vampire powers.

32. You’re Her, You’re Here, You’re Really Here (2011)

It’s a 120-episode Korean drama sitcom wherein it focused on the girls living together with their friend, Chan-young, who has his own bachelor pad.

He’s notoriously fastidious, warning the girls not to eat while sitting on his precious couch and anxiously catching crumbs with tape.

Set in the 1990’s, the drama centers around a female high school student Shi Won, who idolizes boyband H.O.T and her 5 high school friends in Busan.

36. Dream High 2 (2012)

In Season Two, Kirin Arts High School has fallen from its top arts academy status into dire financial straits and is in danger of closing. This season follows a new group of students after the previous group graduated.

The school is taken over by OZ Entertainment Agency, who transfers their own idol stars over to the school to avoid the law that prohibits underage entertainers from performing after 10pm.

37. Haeundae Lovers (2012)

“Haeundae Lovers” is a romantic comedy happening in Haeundae (Busan) that tells the story of Lee Tae Sung, a prosecutor who loses his memory and becomes involved with gangsters.

He then meets and falls in love with Go So Ra (Jo Yeo Jung), who is the daughter of a gangster.

38. I Do, I Do (2012)

Hwang Ji An is the top shoe designer in a major shoe company. She is in her 30s, successful and single.

One night, she makes a horrible mistake and sleeps with Park Tae Gang, a good-looking new employee in her company, and she finds out she is pregnant.

Ji An’s hard-earned career and her stylish lifestyle threatens to implode as a result of her one-night-stand mistake.

39. I Miss You (2012)

Also known as “Missing You,” the Korean drama series revolve around the 15-year-old  Soo-Yeon, who is a victim of bullying at school. They target her, because her father is a murderer.

Luckily, she has an ally in Jung-Woo, who always protects her from the bullies. Soo-Yeon and Jung-Woo are in love, but due to an unexpected accident they become separated. Now as adults they meet again through destiny.

Kim Hang Ah is a legendary top female instructor working in North Korea’s elite special forces unit.

However, she has never fallen in love. Pure and candid, Kim Hang Ah’s goal is to fall in love and get married. Lee Jae Ha is the prince of South Korea’s monarchy.

Lee Soon Shin goes through hardships after the death of her father. She and her mother struggle to find happiness. Her love story continues in the mist of ups and downs of her life.

He returns to Korea from Japan after changing his looks and identity to take revenge on the people who caused his family’s downfall.

While using Jo Hae Woo, the daughter of the main mastermind that he was actually close to when they were young, he finds himself truly getting attracted to her.

Meanwhile, Oh Joon Young is the man that Hae Woo got married to while thinking that Yi Soo had died becomes suspicious of his real identity and motives.

60. Secret (2013)

This drama will depict how a man falls in love with a woman who killed his lover. It is the story about a man who doesn’t believe in love and a woman who believes in love but gets betrayed by love.

Min Hyuk is a rich guy who has everything but a good personality, and burns with revenge after he found out his lover was killed in a hit-and-run accident. Yoo Jung is a woman who takes blame for those accident.

Conclusion

As you see, there are a lot of options to choose from. There are tons of the best Kdrama series of all time since the Hallyu Wave hit in the millenium.

Since then, South Korean never fails in producing high caliber dramas to the present resulting in the increase of international fans.
